Takara Tomy Co. has been producing Japan’s Tomica die-cast cars since the 1970s. Tomica normally refers to the 3-inch size toy cars produced by the company.
In 1942, Eijira Tomiyama founded Tomy Co. of Japan and has been producing a series of toys, however, starting 1970s the production of the Tomica diecast vehicles started due to a demand in toy cars.
Typical Tomicas include Tomica Domestic Series, Tomica Foreign Series, Tomica Common Series, Tomica Limited Series, Tomica Premium Seres and Special, Promotional and Event Models.
Currently, 140 models are included in Tomica Diecast Cars and new models are being released every third Saturday of each month.
