Digimon is a Japanese media franchise surrounding a wide variety of products including but not limited to virtual pet toys, anime, manga, video games, films and a trading card game. It focuses on a monsters/creatures inhabiting a Digital World, a parallel universe that came from Earth’s communication networks.
The franchise was created in 1997 as a series of virtual pets as a counterpart to the popular Tamagotchi and were made to look cute even in small device screens.
Later on, it gained more popularity and traction with the creation of its anime series, Digimon Adventure and video game, Digimon World.
